Palestinian Authority leaders can’t resist attacking America
Abbas Zaki – Fatah Central Committee member – "heads a delegation of political figures, dignitaries, and ambassadors visiting the Venezuelan embassy in solidarity with Venezuela"
Sabri Saidam – Fatah Central Committee Deputy Secretary: "Trump is creating a new colonialism… based on conviction stemming from arrogance, on cowboy mentality, and on action movies"
Adnan Al-Damiri – former PASF spokesman: "Wild Trump is… imposing the barbaric American peace through American bullying from cowboy movies"
PA TV broadcast of Mukhtar Ghobashi, Egyptian academic: "Let me dream… what the US is doing might bring about the beginning of its end"
Since anti-Americanism is a core element of Palestinian Authority ideology, the PA's attempt to hide its close relations with Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro was sure to fail. While Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, the PA's official daily, carefully avoided stories about US forces arresting Maduro since the US operation, other PA/Fatah leaders let their hostility to the US be expressed though non-official PA sources.
On January 5, 2026, Fatah Central Committee member Abbas Zaki led a high-profile delegation of political figures, dignitaries, and ambassadors to the Venezuelan embassy in Ramallah "in solidarity with Venezuela." Photographs published by Zaki on his Facebook page show him at the head of the delegation, underscoring how Fatah stands firmly with the Maduro regime.

Another senior Fatah official, Fatah Central Committee Deputy Secretary Sabri Saidam, used Venezuela as a launching point to ridicule the US as a global bully. He portrayed the US under Donald Trump as a predatory colonial empire driven by a "cowboy mentality" and arrogance, while he referred to the arrest of Nicolás Maduro as a "kidnapping."
Headline: "Did the prime minister of Denmark pack her bags in anticipation of her captors?"
"[US President Donald] Trump is creating a new colonialism today, through his immense arrogance and [belief] in a unipolar system capable of controlling the entire world. He is living this through his golden opportunity to flex his muscles in front of everyone – whether by attacking, ignoring, humiliating, or even scorning. [This is] colonialism based on conviction stemming from arrogance, on cowboy mentality, and on action movies, in a world where megalomania is increasing and the lines between international law and the appetite of the new emperor are blurring...
After the 'kidnapping' of Venezuelan President [Nicolás Maduro] and holding him in what now resembles 'Trump's prison,' the man's appetite has been whetted, and the fireball has begun to accelerate towards Iran, and up to the northern part of the Earth, towards Greenland, the promising polar island that the US president suddenly decided to add to his imaginary real estate list... Greenland, which sits on a vast oil reserve and precious metals and countless resources, has whetted Trump's appetite...Trump's aggressive commercial mentality does not care about history or international law. This is in light of his appetite, which has been whetted to a sensitive geopolitical place and a platform capable of redrawing the map of influence in the North Pole, thereby challenging Russia and its allies…
Here arises the sarcastic and simultaneously frightening question: Will Trump dare to 'kidnap' Danish Prime Minister [Mette Frederiksen], just as he 'kidnapped' the Venezuelan president? Has the lady packed her bags in anticipation of her captors? And will she join Maduro in his prison? The question may seem like a form of sarcasm and jest, but the facts have proven that in the era of Trump, imagination almost touches reality, as today a state president could become a political hostage in the blink of an eye..."

In a similar tirade, the former official spokesman for the PA Security Forces also mockingly likened President Trump's policy to "cowboy movies" intended to impose "barbaric American peace through American bullying:"
Posted text: "Wild [US President Donald] Trump is bringing international politics back to the cowboy movies of Giuliano Gemma and switching the American propaganda against rivals from accusations of tyranny and human rights [violations] to criminal charges – drugs.
Forceful solutions instead of the old restraint through siege and freezing [bank] accounts, and moral assassination of rivals instead of political assassination, open a new stage in conflicts – imposing the barbaric American peace through American bullying from cowboy movies."

More than a week after the US raid, even official PA TV finally allowed its genuine sentiment to surface when it aired a hostile commentary openly wishing for America's downfall. During an interview, Egyptian academic Mukhtar Ghobashi speculated that US actions in Venezuela and elsewhere might mark "the beginning of its end." He portrayed the United States as a coercive power that has been blackmailing both Europe and the broader international system.
Arab Center for Political and Strategic Studies Deputy Chairman Mukhtar Ghobashi: "In my opinion, and let me dream during this interview, what the US is doing might bring about the beginning of its end. Perhaps what it is doing in Venezuela and the way it is blackmailing the Western world and the European Union in Greenland and what it is imposing internationally... [will bring about its end]."

This is the Palestinian Authority's true posture towards the West—hostile, contemptuous, and openly derisive. The PA has displayed this stance for years. Therefore, the US and Western governments should take the anti-West Palestinian ideology at face value and shape their policy towards the PA accordingly.
