Planting trees at a school to honor terrorists? This is Palestinian Authority “reform”

The Palestinian Authority Ministry of Education is one of the most potent engines of terror within the Palestinian Authority. Through school assemblies, ceremonies, and various other "educational" activities, it targets young, impressionable students, systematically embedding the ideals of terror and Martyrdom from a young age.

The latest example could be found this week in Jenin, where the PA inaugurated a "Garden of the Martyrs" at a vocational school, explicitly honoring terrorist murderers and leaders of terror organizations. The tree-planting ceremony at this PA school was broadcast on official PA TV and was attended by PA officials as well as uniformed members of its Security Forces.

The children were told clearly in one of the speeches that the Garden is not just for remembrance, but it is so they will learn to see these terrorists as role models:

"As we always say, whoever honors the Martyr walks in his path."

Some of the terrorists honored included:

On posters from left to right:
"Heroic Martyr Walid Obeidi" (responsible for murdering 11 in Tel Aviv)
"Heroic Martyr Mustafa Zaytawi" (the Palestinian Popular Struggle Front)
"Martyr President Yasser Arafat" (head of PLO and Fatah terror organizations)
"Heroic Martyr Abu Ali Mustafa" (head of PFLP terror organization)
"Heroic Martyr Khalil al-Wazir" ("Abu Jihad" – responsible for murdering 125)

Political and educational leaders spoke at the event:

Insan National Action Association Chairman Fida Turkeman: "In honor of Palestinian Martyr's Day, we inaugurated the Garden of the Martyrs of Palestine here at the Jenin Vocational School…. We are proud of these important and great figures… They sacrificed their lives for Palestine, for the Palestinian cause, for liberation, for the right of return, and for the establishment of the Palestinian state on all national lands, on the occupied Palestinian lands, 1948 and 1967 (i.e., all of Israel)…"

Member of Fatah Jenin branch Osama Bazzour: "As we always say, whoever honors the Martyr walks in his path. We came to plant an olive tree… in the name of all the Martyrs of the Palestinian revolution and our Martyrs, who are more noble and precious than all of us… We will continue to walk in their path until victory, liberation, and return, Allah willing."

Ahmad Rashid, school principal: "We hope that this [garden] will bring glory and eternity to the Martyrs of Palestine."

This is the reality behind PA claims of "reform." While Western leaders, like French President Macron, speak of moderation, coexistence, and educational improvement, the Palestinian Authority, through the very ministry tasked with shaping young minds, continues to use its schools to sanctify terrorism, glorify mass murderers, and instruct the next generation that "walking in the path" of these terrorists is a national and moral duty.
