Yesterday’s Palestinian terrorists presented both as innocent “young men” and glorious “Jihad-fighter Martyrs”
The Palestinians continue to play both sides of the Martyrdom coin. Yesterday, just after 71-year-old Aharon Cohen was murdered and three others were injured in a terrorist attack in Gush Etzion, the Palestinian Authority presented the terrorists who were killed at the scene as innocent Palestinian "young men," who were murdered by Israel for no reason. The official PA news agency, the PA's official daily, and the PA's official television station all reported that the "Martyrs" were arbitrarily shot, without even mentioning that there had been a terror attack.
Today, the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, a terror branch of Fatah—the PA's ruling party, proudly admitted that the "Martyrs" were the attackers and took responsibility for having "led the movement's two Martyrs to supreme eternity and glory":
"With all expressions of splendor and pride, the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades – the military wing of Fatah – have led the movement's two Martyrs to supreme eternity and glory with matrimonial joy
Their heroes, the two Martyrdom-seekers:
The heroic martyr Walid Muhammad Khalil Sabarneh
The heroic martyr, Imran Ibrahim Al-Atrash
Who ascended to the highest heavens by Allah's will, following the heroic car-ramming operation in Etzion – and went to their Master, after lives full of giving and resistance for the sake of Allah and for freedom and honor...
We, in the Al-Aqsa Brigades… while mourning our heroic Jihad-fighter Martyrs, emphasize that the blood of the Martyrs was not shed in vain, and it will continue to be a beacon for the Jihad fighters and for the members of the resistance…"

This pride was echoed by the terrorist's father, who said that "the thing I most awaited in my life was to be the father of a Martyr."
Father of dead 18-year-old terrorist Imran Al-Atrash: "Praise be to Allah, it is something that brings pride…He is a Martyr among the Martyrs. Praise be to Allah, Master of the Universe, the thing I most awaited in my life was to be the father of a Martyr."

This comes just a week after a senior PLO official bragged that the Palestinian people and the Palestinian leadership in particular "continue to march the path of the Martyrs":
PLO Executive Committee member and PLF Secretary-General Wasel Abu Yusuf: "Twenty-one years have passed since we lost the symbol of our struggle, the eternal Martyr among us, Yasser Arafat. Twenty-one years, and our Palestinian people and the Palestinian leadership, led by [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas, continue to march the same path: The path of the Martyrs, the path of the heroic prisoners (i.e., terrorists) inside the prison cells of the occupation (i.e., Israel), the path of the wounded, while we emphasize the inevitable victory, in the face of these immense sacrifices."

The previous week, PA TV put the relative of another terrorist on air, who proclaimed that the 17-year-old terrorist killed by Israeli forces while committing an attack had begged Allah for Martyrdom after previously being injured in action:
Official PA TV newsreader: "Our people in Nablus accompanied to rest young Martyr Jamil Hanani…"
Relative of terrorist Jamil Hanani: "He was wounded the first time and was angry that he was not granted Martyrdom. He asked for it in his prayers and Allah served it to him, praise Allah."

The Palestinian Authority has not changed or reformed in any way. Through its official broadcasts and through its ruling Fatah party and its affiliated Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, it continues to glorify terrorists and place them on the highest pedestal. It continues to utilize the wedding motif, the promise of 72 Dark-Eyed Maidens in Paradise, to incite young people to die committing terror attacks and it continues to express death for Allah fighting Israelis as one of its core values.
