PA Foreign Minister: Britain’s recognition of “Palestine” is a recognition of “the sin it committed” with the Balfour Declaration

Official PA TV host: "I want to focus on Britain as part [of the states recognizing Palestine]. [It] was the one that gave the Balfour Promise (i.e., Declaration) and there was the [British] Mandate. It facilitated and paved the way for achieving [recognition of Palestine]. Is this a [British] correction of a historical move?"

PA Minister of Foreign Affairs Varsen Aghabekian Shahin: "Indeed. This has a very, very significant meaning, and if you pay attention to the statement made by [UK Prime Minister] Starmer, he referred to the Balfour Promise … Starmer referred to the Balfour Promise , and this is part of Britain's recognition of the sin it committed. This is important for the Palestinian people because it gives it hope that indeed the world has acknowledged the injustice done to the Palestinian people, and today we need to correct this move."
