Elevator making Western Wall more accessible is a “Judaization project” – PA official

Chairman of the Committee to Defend the Lands of Silwan Fakhri Abu Diab: "The so-called electric elevator plan at the Al-Buraq Wall (i.e., plan for accessibility for disabled to the Western Wall), which connects the Al-Sharaf neighborhood that the occupation Judaized and called the Jewish Quarter to the Al-Buraq Wall Plaza is in fact an old plan. It is part of a [larger] plan whose goal is to change the visual character around the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque...

[Establishing] this elevator will lead to additional results such as [excavating] tunnels that will be connected to this elevator. This elevator will also be prepared... to increase the number of settlers and facilitate their arrival and invasion of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Al-Buraq Wall, and the Old City in general...

In fact, the occupation is working in this area on implementing the project known as the Historic Basin, the Holy Basin to change the identity of Jerusalem in general, and particularly in this area… These projects are essentially Judaization projects…This enormous size [of the elevator], the work, and the connection of the elevator to tunnels... are intended solely to change the visual character [of the place] and its identity, as well as to erase the [Arab-Islamic] memory. The occupation wants to disconnect this city from its Arab and Islamic historical heritage... The occupation always acts deceitfully, because it wants to create a new [Jewish] history in this area that will be consistent with [its] narratives and myths, while] distorting the history and the general [Arab and Islamic] landscape of this area."
