Lebanese political science researcher praises Israeli democracy

Lebanese political science researcher Muhammad Ali Muqalled: "Their [Israeli] state is still based on religion. What balances the issue of religious extremism is that they have a democratic state... Current [Israeli] Prime Minister Netanyahu enters the court every day and is investigated… The one who was prime minister before him, [Ehud Olmert,] was in prison until recently. Their [former] president, [Katsav,] went to prison after leaving the presidency. They have a judicial system that says: This is the law… They are committed to the law. Our states are not committed to the law. This minimum of democracy in Israel protects it from collapse due to extremism."
